Your Event
All the Basics
All you need for your event is...
- a safe, flat ‘weatherproof’ area for the dancers,
- normally surrounded by tables and chairs for your guests to relax on between dances,
- and you are ready to go.
Nearly all venues benefit from the use of amplification to ensure the sound has a good balance. Whilst a disco can sometimes seem a bit too intrusive for some people, our live traditional band aims to be heard but not drown out conversation of those who want to just listen or chat.
Abbey Capers Barn Dance Band provides the amplification/public address system. We just need a power supply to plug into (single domestic socket 13amp 240volt). Our electrical equipment is PAT tested and we carry Public Liability Insurance as required by most halls and venues.
Dance and Song for Children
Abbey Capers Barn Dance Band provides a fun introduction to traditional English dance and our folk heritage (including Morris Dancing) in the school setting.
We are experienced in working with pre-school children encouraging them to participate in live music and song.
The children benefit through:
- Practising listening skills
- Keeping time/Rhythm
- Learning a special skill they can use another time
- Teamwork
- Having fun and some exercise!
In school, we provide sessions class by class throughout the course of one day, finishing (space permitting) with a final session where all pupils meet together at the end of the day for a grand finale in celebration of the day's event.
An alternative could be an early evening barn dance for children and families.
